General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Conception incurred with sex with a drug abused man is not proved to have any bad effect on fetal development. Only possibility is semen quality. The conception due to affected semen usually results in early abortions. Those conceptions which progress ,are not proven to cause any adverse effect on baby's heart, brain development, intelligence. Again a drug abused may have contacted sexually transmitted disease, which may result in complicating pregnancy depending on the affecting disease( maternal/fetal complications) So, if the person concerned is healthy, has no STD/ you don't get any symptoms of STD after sex- your baby will be normal. Thanks.
