My wife is struggling with a severe cough that has her writhing in pain with her head. She has been diagnosed with a viral infection and it does not seem to be getting any better even with the cough medicine and antihistamine she has been prescribed. I am concerned she is going to burst a blood vessel in her head.
I can certainly understand your concern Head pain or headache during severe cough is due to increased intracranial pressure... because of persistent cough. There is nothing to worry about persistent cough following viral fever as it takes 2 weeks minimum to get rid of it completely...Which is the normal course of it...U can instead try with cough syrup ascoril or benadryl once in every 2 hrs, follow some natural methods like salt water gargling, eating little ginger in the early morning...And take plenty of fluids to get rid of malaise which is very common in viral infection and more bothersome after getting temperatures to normal level
Post your further questions if any, I will available to take up your follow up questions
Thank you
