What Causes Headache After A Head Injury?

I used to get headaches at least once a week my entire life. A single light tap to my head would give me a headache and ruin my day. Then, last year I fell head first from 6 feet up and slammed my head into the concrete. For the next two weeks, there was never a single moment that I didn t have a headache. But it s been a year since that accident, and I ve only gotten maybe 5 headaches since. Do you think there was permanent brain injury? I m very self aware and have seen no changes in my actions or my life

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The headache occurring even after 1 year post injury is less common. But if it is due to injury, it should subside with passage of time. Another possibility is it could be the same headache which was occurring in past.

I don't know the type of headache which you were having in past. From your brief history, it appears that it could be tension headache/migraine.

Either you can provide more details about your headache or you can consult doctor for evaluation. To calm your anxiety, he may advise MRI brain to rule out any lesion or old brain injury.

My advise to you is

: Take rest
: Avoid mental and physical stress
: Sleep for 8 hours daily
: Avoid those factors which increase your headache
: You can take painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription

Hope it will help you. Still no relief, you should consult doctor.

Thanks. Take care.
