Hello,

Headache and backache are two different symptoms. They may not be inter-related with each other. They may be caused due to common reasons like dehydration, poor general health condition, exhaustion, low blood glucose, stressful lifestyle, stress (physical and emotional), addictions if any, etc. You are suggested to stay well hydrated and well fed. Take adequate sleep. Avoid stressful lifestyle. Avoid taking spicy, oily food. Take food in time. Medical conditions that may cause headache are, migraine, tension headache, vision problems, PMS (in females).

Backache commonly occurs due to muscle or ligament strain. Repeated heavy lifting, poor posture. If you're in poor physical condition, constant strain on your back can cause painful muscle spasms. Serious medical conditions like sciatica, obesity, infection of the spine, slip discs, etc. You can take pain relieving medicines like Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS after food or when needed (this will bring symptomatic relief). Heat therapy and physical exercises under a physiotherapist may help. Get clinically examined by a orthopedist, get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
