Hi. Thanks for trusting HealthCareMagic. I have understood your questions.
Hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) is one of drug that use for antihypertensive, it works as diuretics that work in renal tubules and increase the excretion of water and fluid from our body.
Since it works in the
kidney, we should use with caution if patients have some kidney problems. In your condition that you have
cyst in kidney, have you checked the renal function, such as
creatinine level? Because if the creatinine clearance is impaired, we can't use hydrochlorothiazide because it can make the kidney function worsen. You should tell your doctor about this condition to make it clear that hydrochlorothiazide is safe for you, or it needs adjustment in doses.
About the
dizziness, headache and sweating that happened to you, they are the side effects of this drugs. Dizziness is side effect that more happened to patient who consume HCT, especially in elderly patient. Sweating is the response of diuretic process because HCT remove away fluid from our body.
If you feel dizzy, I suggest you don't do movement quickly. You have to sit down for a while before you get up from sleeping, especially in the morning. It can prevent the dizziness by slowly getting up from one movement. The dizziness may be worsen with alcohol, other medicines and
fever. You should also contact your doctor if it still happens or worsen.
I hope these can be helpful for you and if there's anything you want to discuss more, feel free to ask me in HealthCareMagic. I hope you can get well and your blood pressure can get controlled. Thank you.
