Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. The headache in back part of head is usually due to
:
Chronic fatigue (most likely in your husband)
: Hypertension
:
Cervical spondylosis : Chronic fatigue leads to
tension headache. It presents as heaviness,
dull headache, band like sensation around head, neck pain on flexion, dizziness, always fatigued, not willing to do small work even.
If his symptoms are such, you can follow few tips
: Ask him to take rest
; Daily sleep 8 hours
; Avoid mental stress
; Do Yoga/exercise
; Head massage
; Take a break from work and do some fun activities
; He can take
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription
: Hypertension -
Consult doctor an get his BP checked. If it is high, start medication and change his lifestyle like
; avoid fatty/spicy food
; salt intake less than 2 gm daily
; Morning walk
; reduce weight if overweight
; avoid mental stress
; regular monitoring of BP
: Cervical spondylosis - It is usually due to
cervical spine disc bulge. It causes sharp pain, radiates to neck/shoulder, may cause dizziness or vertigo while having pain.
For management, consult neurosurgeon. He will examine him and advise MRI cervical spine/X ray cervical spine. Treatment is first conservative while surgery may be needed if no relief.
Hope it will help you. thanks, take care.
