What Causes Headache And Facial Pain?

My daughter has had a spinal fluid leak following childbirth and a third degree tear operation. She has had it for 8 months and the headaches have now subsided but she is left with facial pain, in her cheekbones and her nose, is it possible it has left her with neuralgia or is it the final stages of a CFS leak ?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

She would've been expected to resolve any issues from the CSF leak long ago if childbirth was 8 months ago and they are sure that she is no longer leaking. If there has not been confirmed resolution of the leak (and I wouldn't necessarily assume that based on her symptoms) then, I would take her to see a neurologist and ask that an MRI of the brain obtained looking for a spinal fluid leak.

If necessary a radionuclide scan could be done to really rule that out as a possibility since the facial pain and ongoing headaches are potentially suspicious.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
