What Causes Headache And Giddiness After Switching From Amlodipine To Telmisartan?
I was using amlopine 5 for more than two years for BP and when I complained of swelling in legs Doctor prescribed telvas40-telmisartran...I am already taking medicine for diabetics and prostrate issues for the last six months... Now I find I get headaches and giddiness happening many times. Is it due to change of BP tablet. Kindly reply . Pradeepkumar
Hello welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Sudden change in antihypertensive medicine from one to other might be related with headache and giddiness occasionally. But it usually subsided once body gets used to it.
Another reason might be very low or very high blood pressure can give rise to giddiness or headache. So kindly ask your doctor regarding your symptoms and check your blood pressure frequently.
Usually your doctor should reduce the dose of amlodipine gradually and start telmisartan from a low dose so that you should not feel symptoms because of sudden change in medicines.
Ask your doctor whether he can give you 20 mg of telmisartan and see if you still have that symptoms or not.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
