What Causes Headache And Sinus Pressure After Benadryl Withdrawal?

Aloha I am currently doing a taper off klonapin..for nerve damage. Was on Gabapentin..weaned off. Also had done same with Klonapin & Tranxene T...which I was tld to restart. Insideous meds. Doing ok with my Klonapin taper. So, 3 days ag I decided to quit 50mg Benedryl at night for sleep. 3 days now ahd have a horrible headach & sinus pressure. No nausea......how long will it ake for the Benedryl withdrawls take? thank you By th way..had PET procedure done Stanford a couple weeks ago..left ear..going back again to have rt ear done. Part of a study now. So, my plate is full..but the withdrawls from Benedryl..especially he headaches...will it subside? thank you

Hello and thank you for using HCM. Benadryl is an antihistamine and it may be that stopping it has caused some allergies to flare up resulting in headache and sinus pressure. You might try a non-sedating antihistamine like loratadine instead of the benadryl. If you really just want to be off the antihistamines all together, try some nasal saline several times a day to flush out the sinuses. A nasal steroid may also be helpful, but that would be a prescription. May sure that you are staying well hydrated and getting some regular exercise every day like walking. I hope you are feeling better soon.
