What Causes Headache, Sore Spot On Head And Concussion After Injury?
Fell from horse 10 days ago. Went to urgent care center day after for headache like hangover. Was told mild concussion & to just rest. Headache lasted 3 days & then I felt fine. Then 2days ago, (8 days after fall)headache returned. Have soft sore spot on top of head where I fell-didn t notice before. I Was wearing helmet but definitely felt impact. Other than symptoms noted nothing else. Should I get re-checked for headaches & soft painful spot?
Hello dear, Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have made the following clinical explanation- What you appear to have is 'post traumatic headache'.Post traumatic headache is headache which can start from days to months after head injury and it is due to the sequelae of intracranial inflammatory damage which occurred as a result of injury. In this,it is not necessary to find gross brain damage on brain imaging and investigations like computerised tomographic (CT) scan may come out to be normal. Your head injury was a clinically mild one as it was not associated with clouding of consciousness. So,It is not mandatory for you to get a brain imaging. Please take mild analgesics under your physician's guidance and if still the pain persists, low dose amitriptyline may be taken. It should be of help.I hope it helps.
