What Causes Headache With Kerosene/gasoline Smell In Nostrils?
This evening my 15 year old son mentioned that he sometimes has headaches accompanied by a strange smell, which he described as smelling like kerosene or gasoline in his nostrils. I have heard that this sort of event can be caused by brain tumors or hemorrhaging. Is this the case?
It is true that odd chemical smells or tastes with or without headaches can be caused by INTRACRANIAL PATHOLOGIES and should be investigated in anybody who is not known to complain previously of such things.
Tumours are not the only pathologies that can cause such sensory experiences and there are other things such as nutritional deficiencies, mild seizure episodes, and other entities which are even BENIGN in nature to consider.
My suggestion is to make an appointment with a neurologist who will examine your son and order the proper tests.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
