Hi Dr. Grief, For six weeks I have had a growing number of symptoms. An explosive, debilitating headache that instantly comes on, beginning in my neck and up through my right eye and through the right top of my head. I also felt like my eye and the top of my head will explode. The doppler for the carotid artery showed no tears. I was then diagnosed with carotidynia and prescribed indocin+2 extra strength tylenols 3X/day for 2 weeks. This brought relief while on the medicine, but afterwards, none. In fact, in addition to the headache, the following symptoms have began 1) a sore spot is in my right temple, 2) my right eye constantly feels pressure (optician says the pressure is ok, and it looks normal on the inside), 3) a deep hot flushing rises from my right neck up into the top of my right head, 4) my scalp is becoming sensitive, & 5) it seems I have lost a little hearing in my right ear. My doctor prescribed 3,000 mg of tylenol a day. SED rate was 5. He is sending me to a neurologist, hoping to have some imaging of my head and neck. I am feeling scared as these symptoms develop. Have you seen this before? Is a neurologist the right specialist to see?
