What Causes Headaches, heaviness In Chest With Palpitations After Wine Intake?
I had quite a bit of wine last night and woke up with a dull headache (not severe enough for medication). A few hours later, I started to feel a heaviness in my chest, along with a racing heart beat (sometimes it would really pound) and a lightheaded feeling. I drank some cold water and decided to lie down. Lying down actually made the whole thing worse, especially the heart pounding. I sat in a chair and put my head down between my knees, then gradually started to feel better. This episode passed after about 15 minutes and I was left feeling cold. What was this all about? (I am a very fit, health conscious 56 year old woman.)
The alcohol intake reduces the level of liquids necessary in the body. As you are very much health conscious, avoid intake of alcohol and divert your time towards positive and creative activities like spending some time with friends, church, pets and society. As is said, you need to maintain the equilibrium of the liquids in the body metabolism. Have water and fruit juices aplenty (Check for the sugar levels periodically). Certain unbalances may occur from time to time. Do not worry, you will again revert back to composure.
Be healthy always with a positive attitude and activities !
