I am 68 years old, status post closed had injury about 12 years ago with skull fracture small subdural hematoma and bleeding from the left ear. For Quite awhile now I ve been having problems with most of the hearing in my right ear just shutting off for a day or two off and on but once or twice a week. Very minimal sound is heard. I take allergy meds and mucinex which usually helps but it has gone out again today. Just wondered if you have any ideas or suggestions

It sudden onset or slowey progressive problem? Are you diabetic? Are you on any drugs? Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. It may be eustachian tube block or middle ear Infection or Acute labyrinthitis or sensoneural hearing loss or anemia or stroke etc. You may need ENT examination with blood sugar, thyroid profile, MRI brain, serum electrolytes, audiometry and tympanogram etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
