Sometimes my hearing of steady sounds like a microwave or the car s air conditioning makes it sound like the sound is pulsing. This lasts a few minutes and then the steady sound is heard as a steady, consistent sound with no pulsating. I take atenolol 25 mg once a day for blood pressure. The pulsing sounds have been happening for a few years, not a recent sudden onset. I am also hearing impaired with moderate loss (severe at one sound level). Any speculation on what would cause his hearing of what should be a steady sound as a pulsing sound?
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. The pulsating sound in ear is abnormal perception of sound we call it as tinnitus. There are many causes for this kind of sound. This could be due to thickened blood vessels, aneurysm of carotid blood vessel, abnormal muscle activity in and around ear. This needs a through evaluation by an ENT surgeon. Treatment depends on the cause. The impaired hearing could be age related. An audiometry will assess the degree and type of hearing loss. Hope i have answered your question. If you have any further questions i am happy to help you. You can consult me on Healthcare magic for further queries. Wish you a good health. Take care.
