What Causes Hearing Problem And Painful Ear After Swimming?

Yesterday I was swimming in the pool and decided to dive in. When I hit the water, I could a tearing sound in my ear and pain all along my jaw. Also very painful when I got out of water. I went to the doctor immediately and he said my eardrum was intact. But today , I still cannot hear out of this ear, all sounds are muffled. What could be causing my hearing to be so muffled?
I have been taking tylenol and putting on warm compresses.
