What Causes Heart Fluttering, Increased Anxiety And Swelling In Legs While Taking Amlodipine?

Hi, I have been taking Amlodipine for 3 years--recently have developed fluttering in my heart and increased anxiety, along with swelling in lower legs. I had a cardiac cath 3 years ago-- completely clean and an ECHO, stress 3 months ago, which I passed with flying colors. Thank you.

Hello,

Swelling is likely due to amlodipine only and you should it get changed to other antihypertensive like telmisartan. Anxiety can cause fluttering Or vice versa is also possible.

Now, to differentiate between anxiety and rhythm disturbances, you'll need Ecg.

You should get ECG during fluttering episodes and if not informative then needs Holter monitoring or mobile based rhythm monitor where we'll get an idea about the cause of fluttering.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
