What Causes Heart Palpitations And Burning Sensation In Chest?
I recently have been having heart palps. My prim dr did EKG, said xtra beat, don t worry but very strong & lasts for long time. Went to cardiologist . Had 24 hr+ monitor. He said don t worryabout it. He plans to do more tests but my insurance will change in Nov to my benefit so I wanted to wait if possible. He said no problem. He does not seem concerned at all but I am a nervous reck. I don t feel dizzy or anything major but I do feel shaky which may just be nervousness but I also get occasional burning sensation behind my breast. I ve read these occasional increased beats are no big deal but how occasional is occasional. This feeling can last for hours. I have always been healthy, eat well, exercise. Only family history is dad & sister w Afib but cardiologist knows this. I don;t have afib but PVCs. I m afraid to go to sleep at night & it beats hard that it actually wakes me up.
Hello welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Palpitations are due to rhythm disturbances of heart or valvular problems. But it may be felt in streess or even lean and thin individuals also.
You have premature ventricular complexes(pvcs) which has been diagnosed in holter monitoring. It's an benign abnormality and a common cause of palpitations. So don't worry much regarding this. More you get stressed, more you aggravated palpitations unnecessarily.
So, my advice to you is whenever you have palpitations just calm down and lie on bad, just divert your mind to other things. There are medicines available which can control palpitations like tab propranolol. But written prescription is necessary.
So kindly ask your doctor about echo of heart which will rule out any valvular abnormalities of heart. Otherwise don't worry much.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
