What Causes Heart Palpitations Despite Having Zoloft For Anxiety?

Hello, I have been having heart palpitations for a while now and they've normally only last a second or two and then my heart rate goes back to normal. I have noticed lately that they have been coming more frequent and also have been last up to as long as 30 secs. I do have panic disorder and was on Zoloft for anxiety for the past 4 months. I recently found out I was pregnant and my doctor had me cold turkey stop taking the Zoloft. Can you tell me why or some possibilities why my palpitations have been more frequent and have been lasting longer? Thank you! :)

I read your query and I understand your concern.
Heart palpitations can have different causes and anxiety is one of the most frequent ones.
However before leaving everything to anxiety your heart rhythm must be evaluated by a cardiologist with EKG/Holter EKG, ultrasound for other possible types of arrhythmia other than simple increase of heart rate due to anxiety.
Also another frequent cause which should be ruled out is increased thyroid hormone levels which could also increase your heart rate.
If anxiety is the cause and you interrupted Zoloft that could naturally worsen the symptoms. Also hormonal changes related to pregnancy could influence your mood as well.
I hope to have answered your question.
