Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Heart Palpitations With Normal ECG Report?
Had an ECG today, preparing for a op after new year. I discussed before that I have been known to suffer from palpitations. Nurse approached me after in waiting room to tell me there was a discrepancy from the ECG but not to worry. She said they will be intouch with my doctors, but obviously I am concerned is this normal practise.
If didn't have palpitation during ECG, then the report must have been normal. Your ECG will show some abnormality when it is performed during palpitations. If your palpitations disturb you much, but you have them for short periods you can undergo Holter monitoring. It is type of examination, which records your ECG during 24 hours. So any palpitation will be recorded and your doctor will know what type of arrhythmia you have and how they can help you.
Hope I could help you
Wish you good health

hi normal ECG with palpitations can be due to various reasons. electrolyte imbalance, severe anaemia, nervous disorders, calcium & magnesium deficiency, anxiety neurosis, thyroid variations, deranged sugars, stress, cardiac related, or sometimes very insignificant for no reason at all. kindly evaluate for all the above with complete haemogram, electrolytes, thyroid profile. if still persisting get evaluated with the cardiologist for 2d-echo. all the best take care
