Hi Dr. Grief; I ve been having heart palpitations on and off for the past 2 weeks and I m wondering what could be causing this? I am a 42 year old woman with hypothyroidism. I take thyroid meds daily; I don t take any supplements. I ve been under stress with a new job - could this be stress?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Palpitation in your case could be due to stress only, it can be due to some cardiac disease and to this out one need to get done the cardiac evaluation test, but in your case you do not seems have other associated symptoms that could be suggestive of cardiac disease so it might not be the cardiac elements are there suggestive of cardiac disease as long as the palpitation is concern.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Akhtar Husain
