What Causes Heaviness And Numbness In The Left Leg?

I had lumbar L4 L5 fusion 2 years ago with sciatica for the past 5 years on the left leg. With in the last 2 weeks I have been having episodes of heaviness, numbness, and intermittant loss of control of my left leg when walking for more than 10 minutes at a time. Is this to be expected, or do I need to worry that it will progress to complete loss of use of that leg?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you may be suffering from spinal stenosis as you have been having episodes of heaviness, numbness, and intermittent loss of control of left leg when walking for more than 10 minutes at a time. For pain relief you can take analgesic such as ibuprofen. Vitamin B and C are helpful in recovering. For numbness neurotropic agents like Mecobalamine will be of help. You may need to your MRI of lumber spine and decompression operation may be needed if MRI shows stenosis. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
