What Causes Heaviness In The Head And Lack Of Concentration?

Hello Sir,

I am in depression from past 15-20 days due to some problem.I facing some problems like forget things after 2-3 hours and somethings even not being able to recover, eyes and head heaviness, sometimes severe pain in upper portion of head, not being able to concentrate on work.Sometimes while doing work I forget for what and why I was doing this work.

I am working in a company. There is again work pressure. So while doing work I feel that my head is waving around and on both sides in front I feel that my head is so heavy that it will burst out.As a result I am not being able to work.My face has lost its charm and I look like a patient.

Is this due to depression or something wrong with my brain?

should I go for CT SCAN or MRI for brain?

Please tell me what should I do?

Please reply as soon as possible. My e-mail id is YYYY@YYYY

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

I have read your query and can understand your problem. Some times due to depressive symptoms and anxiety individuals develop poor concentration and focus. They may start showing forgetfulness in day to day task. The symptoms usually occur due to poor focus. Lack of energy, tiredness etc further potentiate such symptoms.

- As per my opinion these symptoms are occurring due to depression and there is nothing wrong in brain. But you should consult a psychiatrist for evaluation of your symptoms and for treatment of depression.

- As most likely you have depression so no need to go for MRI or Brain scan because they will reveal nothing.

Consult a psychiatrist for treatment of these symptoms. SSRIs can help to reduce depressive symptoms. Medicines like Modafinil can help to improve alertness and will improve focus. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Take Care
