What Causes Heavy Bleeding, Cramping And Bloating After An Abortion?

Hi, I was wondering if you could help? I had a surgical abortion just over a month ago, I haven t stopped bleeding since. Last week it got really heavy and I ve been getting cramping and bloating the whole time too , but i hoped i was getting back to normal and this was a period, however because i haven t been too well i went for a blood test on Friday it came back that my iron levels were very low and my HCG levels are at 14? Does that mean something could be left over in my uterus and it wasn t a period I was experiencing? The doctor wants me to do another blood test this Friday too.

These symptoms a month after an abortion indicate that you may be having some part of the placenta still retaining in the womb,which may be also infected.

Do not the test symptoms lightly, the continuous blood loss has caused anemia.

You need to start antibiotics to treat infection and also consider a repeat currattage under antibiotic cover as the chronic infection of the retained tissue may cause concerns with future pregnancy.

Hcg not normalized also could indicate molar pregnancy, for which a repeat hcg level is necessary before any repeat surgical evacuation is attempted.
