What Causes Heavy Bleeding During Intercourse?

hi, me and my girlfriend has sex for the first time. she is indeed a virgin. i am about 8 and half inches or more. we tried to have sex but my penis would not fit. we continued at it and suddenly she started to bleed. about 30 mins later we tried again in the bath tub. no success. eventually more blood started coming out. then lots of blood was pouring out and it was all thick large pieces of blood clots bigger than a 50 cent piece. she continued to bleed for 8 hours enormously. ( looked like canned cranberry sauce the block kind you slice up). she went to the ER and turned out she had a tear on the outside. but my question is what caused the large thick clots? i mean big thick clots.

Sexual contact for the first time causes rupture of the hymen.
Rupture of hymen is usually associated with bleeding which varies from every person to person.
Sexual activity can also cause trauma to other parts of the genital tract which can cause heavy bleeding.
Presence of clots suggests that there is heavy bleeding.
Probably there is severe trauma on the external genitalia which is responsible for the bleeding.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider or gynecologist for clinical assessment and repair of trauma if present.
