I was on a mini pill and the doctor changed it when I started bleeding. She also took a swab which showed infection. Was on high strength antibiotics for a week. This was two months ago. Started bleeding again and feeling really crampy and wondered what it could be?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Profuse painful bleeding in menses could be from various causes ranging from dysfunctional uterine hemorrhage, hormonal imbalance, uterine fibroid, endometriosis etc. Mini pill can cause irregular period with scanty or profuse bleeding. But it has been already stopped. Please consult a gynecologist for immediate control of bleeding, followed by investigations to find the cause. This would be followed by specific treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
