What Causes Heavy Periods With Menstruation Twice A Month?
I am 15 years old and my period is extremely heavy every month and sometimes I get it twice a month. They are heavy everyday and last at the minimum a full 7 days each sometimes 9. My mom is taking me to the doctor and I would just like to know what they would do during the appointment? Thank you
Hello, Thanks for letting us know your health concern. During the initial years of menstruation, it is quite common to experience abnormal menstrual pattern as the body adjusts to the new hormone levels. Your doctor is likely to do a general check up, a local examination and if necessary would go for a pelvic exam. If you are a virgin, a per rectal exam is preferred. Blood counts and urinalysis and a sonogram of the pelvis are suggested. You need to improve your nutritional status and hormones may be need ed to stabilize your cycles. Hope this helps.
