What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding At The Age Of 46?
I went off the birth control pill over a year ago. I am 46 and I have my last period in March then had very little spotting each month for a day. Until this Month. It s been 7 days and been very very heavy and has not tapered off at all. Is there something wrong. Should I go to the doctors.
Hello dear I understand your concern Sudden heavy bleeding at his age is not normal. It could be due to the fibroid, hormonal imbalance, endometrial and cervix dysplasia, polyp, endometrial cancer. I would suggests to consult the gynecologist and undergo vaginal examination, USG scan, endometrial biopsy/PAP smear to rule out the cause. Specific treatment will depend on the cause. Progesterone pill/shot and tranexamic acid will help to reduce the bleeding. If it will not responds then D & C is the last option. Avoid stress, take healthy diet with iron supplements, drink pelnty of water and maintain proper pelvic hygiene. Hope this may help you
