What Causes Heavy Vaginal Discharge With Bloating?

I had my first period a couple months back...and I think it s coming again, but I don t know if that s the case. I m only 14 years old..and I have this crazed feeling that I might be pregnant, and I m really scared. Am I just psyching myself out? I haven t had any intercourse with a man..but I have climbed, like a pole at a playground and I felt some tingling and a weird feeling.. I ve been bloating for a few days..and I have some vaginal discharge and it s unusually heavy.. could I really be pregnant?!

Hello,

Your worry is understandable as you have recently entered the reproductive phase of a woman's life cycle.

First of all I would like to reassure you that if you have not had sex, it is not possible to become pregnancy/ The kind of activities that you have mentioned will not cause a pregnancy.

Please understand that in the initial few months after starting to menstruate, it is usual to have irregular periods. Symptoms like bloating etc can occur with change in female hormone levels and give rise to such symptoms especially around the premenstrual period.

Therefore, I would like to reassure you. However, it would be good if you could use this opportunity to review lifestyle.

There is evidence that a good diet, exercise, weight management and stress management with meditation and other mindfulness measures can help manage symptoms that hormonal fluctuations can cause such as bloating, mood changes etc.

If you find difficult to cope on your own, then please do not hesitate to seek professional advice and support on a one to one basis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Sabina Hussain
