hello, i am 18 years old and currently 11 weeks pregnant. i recently had a blood test which said i had hep c. this was a complete and horrific shock 4 me, basically a nightmare come true! is it possible their was a mistake made? i have done another blood test and am currently waiting on results.

No drugs used to treat Hepatitis C is completely safe in pregnancy and the chances of Hepatitis C being transferred to the baby are less. So your doctor might not start the treatment rightaway and if they have to start it will be the drugs comparatively safer than others. Hepatitis C is a virus which is acquired when you come in contact with blood or body fluid of infected person by various ways. It causes liver damage gradually over a period of years.
