What Causes Hepatitis C During Pregnancy?

Before I knew I was pregnant I donated blood. Then I found out I was pregnant the next week. The blood donation letter came back saying that I tested positive for Hep C and to get further testing. I just went to the doctor and was retested. That result came back positive too. I am 14 weeks pregnant and just found out I tested positive for hepatitus C, I am flabergasted at how this can be! I am in shock and don't know what to think. How long can it lay dorment before a blood test would detect it? I have donated blood before and have never had this result.

u could have acquired the virus anytime. it can sty dormant for yrs.. it is usually spread from stool contamination.ofcourse u need to check for all other viral markers n start treatment depending on the viral load. a good gastroenterologist can help.pregnancy will not be affected in anyway
