Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I began experiencing hiccups this morning on and off..sometimes as long as three hours. I have pain just beneath my diaphragm and somewhat in the center of chest on the right side. What could be causing this? I went to a pain clinic yesterday for tx of spinal stenosis in my C3-C5 and was given steroid injections. Could the injections be causing the hiccups?
C3-C5 nerve irritation can cause chronic hiccups because these nerves supply diaphragm and thus cause hiccups. You can take Baclofen for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
