What Causes High BP And Hot Flashes During Menopause?
Hi, I am 48 years old and I do crossfit 3 times a week. Today I went to the doctor to get my annual check and they find my BP high... At 156/92. I was very nervous but after crossfit tonight I take my pressure again and it was at 124/94. I am concerned about my BP. Is this something I should worry? Another thing I have to point out is that I am in menopause and have a lot of hot flashes. Does this have anything to do with my BP.

Hi, I understand your concern Menopause is withdrawal of female hormones which govern menstrual cycle . This is a gradual process over 1-5 years & is chracterised by various symptoms caused by hormonal changes/imbalance. -Hot flashes & high blood pressure both are due to low level of female hormone estrogen . - Women have more chances of getting cardiovascular risks after menopause.- This is due to loss of protective action of estrogen in menstruating age. High blood pressure is major factor causing cardiac problems - & so rise in blood pressure is seen in pre menopausal phase as estrogen level desends down . High blood pressure can not be diagnosed with a couple odf reading. doctor will check it at least 3-4 times before you are declared to have high blood pressure. Though high blood pressure is related to cardiac problems - you need not be worried about it. It needs few investigations, regular intake of medicines advised dy a physician & having a healthy life style & positive attitude . Thanks
