Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes High BP, High Pulse Rate And Frequent Urination?
My friend who is 80 years old has high blood pressure today (eg. 159/97) and very high pulse (142 bpm). Her husband (84) has just been in hospital with heart problems and I think she is anxious although she is not experiencing any symptoms other than needing to urinate frequently? I am not sure what I should advise them to do as I do not want to stress them any further? I think she would HATE to have to go to hospital straight away to be checked.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. It appears to be stress induced. 2. Relaxation with good fluid intake to avoid dehydration secondary to frequent urination needs to be avoided. 3. Ask her if she has any burning micturition. If she has, she will require urine microscopy to rule out any urinary tract infection. Its possibly stress, need to rule out UTI. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
