What Causes High SGOT Levels?
10 days ago i have dengue fever n my sgpt n sgot rise above normal. but when the fever go, its declining. today sgpt 579, sgot 178, negative on hepatitis a,b, and c... i dont feel any pain or symptoms like pain in abdomen, vomiting, always tired or anything. im not drinking, my weight n cholesterol are normal, not taking any medication except hp pro n lesichol 300 as my doctor suggested before i took another blood test in 14 days. what makes my sgpt n sgot levels so high ??

AST (SGOT) and ALT (SGPT) are reasonably sensitive indicators of liver damage or injury from different types of diseases or conditions, and collectively they are termed liver tests or liver blood tests. So the next step is to look for certain liver damage and most common cause is fatty liver disease. It should be confirmed by ultrasound. Other causes are viral hepatitis,cirrhosis, medications, alcohol intake or autoimmune diseases. To verify exact cause, US, bilirubin levels and tumor markers should be additionaly done Then appropriate treatment can be started.
