What Causes High TSH Level With Weight Loss And Fatigue?
My husband is being treated for possible Valley Fever,,,in one of his blood work ups...it came up that his TSH level was on the high side...they are saying they beleive hypothyroidism, but his symptoms are weight loss and fatgiue, but when I was reading about this it sounded like he would have weight gain rather than weight loss? I m confused...his level was 4.510 TSH???
I can understand your concern and would try to help you in the best possible way. High TSH along with high T3 and T4 levels can lead to weight loss. This condition is called secondary hyperthyroidism. In this increased thyroid hormone levels are due to excess of TSH which stimulates thyroid production from the gland.
Your husband's weight loss may be due to secondary hyperthyroidism and hence his TSH was elevated. Don't take any stress and discuss the possibility with your doctor as he knows your husband's medical history best and would be the best person to advice regarding his state.
