What Causes High Blood Pressure After Using Lisinopril Hctz 20/25mg?
I have been taking lisinopril hctz 20/25 mg for several years. I have had ear congestion, jaw and neck pain, sometimes my BP gets low (110/70) I have had heart pounding and thumping at times, fatigue, sour stomach. I took myself off it for about five days and all these symptoms went away, but my BP starting climbing up. Some readings as high as 160/100. I am otherwise a very healthy, active 59 year old. I play competitive tennis and am at a very healthy weight, eat a healthy diet. Is there an alternative medicine to try that may not make me feel so poorly?
The other aspects of treatment of high blood pressure are exercise and a healthy diet but if you are already doing both of these and your blood pressure is still high, then medication is needed for control.
If the lisinopril/HCTZ does not agree with you there are other medications that can be used that you may be able to tolerate better.
If the blood pressure remains high then it increases the risk of both long term and short term complications.
I hope this helps
