I got dengue fever 3 weeks back and recovered by now. my BP was normal all through the dengue fever i.e 120/80. But after 3 weeks my bp has increased to 150/100 and then down 130/100. because of which i had severe headache. while an ecg the doctor also suggested that i have sinusitis. I never had these complaints in the past. what going wrong here? i am not stessed and dont have any anxiety.
Hi welcome to HCM. Elevated blood pressure in your case could be primary hypertension ,which is unrelated to the dengue fever.I advise you to have a baseline ecg and 2 dimensional screening echo to rule out organic heart pathology.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6 gm/day.Avoid smoking and alcohol.Maintain blood pressure under 130/80 mm of Hg.Antihypertensive drugs like metoprolol is needed to control blood pressure.Consult your cardiologist for further care. Thank you.
