What Causes High Cholesterol Level?

just a quick question... I am 35 year old male and just had my yearly physical with my primary care physician.my total cholesterol came back a little high at 212. My Triglycerides were 59mg HDL was 78 and LDL was 122. How worried should I be in terms of the overall cholesterol being where it is? Do I need to make drastic changes to my overall diet,etc?

Thank you for your question! Regarding your cholesterol problem, it is not too bad; but there are place to improve. First of all you should modify your life style and diet; more physical activity; at least 30 min walking per day; no cigarette smoking, no hard drinks, good and regular sleeping; and of course a Mediterranean diet (rich of natural vegetables and fruits, olive oil, low animal fat, etc). If you follow these recommendations and don't have any additional coronary risk factors (high BP, diabetes, no smoking, etc) you are going to remain in the very low risk zone for future cardiac events.
