What Causes High Level Of Calprotectin In Stool?
Hi there
This is my first post, long time IBS sufferer.
Recently found out I have high level of calprotectin in stool which indicates inflammation, it was 200, should be below 50.
Does anybody know what this means? I have to have a gastroscopy and I am worried about the level of calprotectin in the stool as everything on the internet suggest inflammatory bowel or cancer.
Can it be possible that I have a high level of calprotectin with no inflammation?
I did take asprin three days before the test.

Common reasons for elevated calprotectin levels are inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, intestinal cystic fibrosis and colorectal cancer. As you mentioned, you took Aspirin three days before test, I'd like to inform you that some drugs like Pantoprazole and Aspirin (NSAIDs) can cause increase in fecal calprotectin levels.
