What Causes High Pulse Rate While On A Beta Blocker?
Hello, My husband had a thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery in November. He's taking a beta blocker. His pulse is constantly high, never below 90 and often over 100. I took his blood pressure and pulse about one hour ago and it was 99 over 47 with a pulse of 100 and he was sleeping. He woke up about an hour later and I took his vitals again and his BP was 125 over 75 with a pulse of 110. When should we get really worried?
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.I understand your concern. In my opinion, you should get really worried when the increased pulse rate is associated with any clinical symptoms like sweating, breathlessness, chest discomfort etc.According to me,increased pulse rate is common during recovery in the postoperative period, which should be taken care of by the prescribed beta blocker.Seek medical attention or consult with your treating doctor if he feels any discomfort.Hope this information helps you.If any further questions, happy to answer you.Take care.
