What Causes High Pus Cells After Mikacin 500 Injection?
My mother age is suffering from urine infection,Age 54,Weight-60kg
she is patient of high bp and sugar,now its fine sugar 130-160 and bp normal
She has taken MIKACIN 500 injection(30 in quantity) and was hospitalised for same
and report was earlier FULL FIELD and in second report after 10 injection was 30-35/hpf and now in third report after 10 more injection its coming LARGE IN NUMBER(pus cells)
We would be really greatful if u can help us for same
Hi. It seems ur mother's urinary infection has developed resistance to Amikacin. This could be due to persistence source of infection, probably pyelonephritis with papillary necrosis secondary to diabetes. This could also be due to simultaneous overwhelming of resistant strain or simultaneous infection with resistant strain. U need urine culture and ultrasound or CECT KUB. urine culture will tell what is the strain and sensitive to which antibiotic. Imaging will tell if kidney is hydronephrotic sec to obstruction may be Stone or papillary necrosis or bladder pathology. Next plan would depend on these tests. Also get serum creatinine done to look for deranged renal function and avoid nephrotoxic drugs.
