What Causes High Sugar Level?

Hello Doctor...My dad s sugar level has raised to 500+ and this happened last week and he was hospitalized and treated for the same and it had come to normal in a weeks time. Now again it raised up to 300+ in the afternoon and 500+ in the evening. Why does this keep varying? What could be the reason? Can t we cure this completely? Please guide us. Siva

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Your father's blood sugar readings are too high.

If he is still using the medications that he was using in the hospital to get into control then it may mean that the readings are related to his diet out of hospital.

He may have to look at the amount of carbohydrates that he is consuming daily and which meals are impacting on his blood sugar.

It may be best to ask his doctor for a referral to a nutritionist for advise.

I hope this helps
