What Causes Hip Pain After Dance Movements?

A week ago I was at dance and I was doing my splits and I m not sure what side of the splits caused the pain but when I got up my hip started hurting really bad. The next day it wasn t hurting but when I went and did a Ariel (no handed kartwheel) my hip started hurting really bad again! What did I do? Should I go see a doctor? How long should I be out of dance?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.
As per your history and symptoms there can be injury to abductor muscles or ligament.
I will advise you do MRI of hip and after consulting with your doctor you can do that.
Another possibility of just muscle sprain which may heal with rest.

Till time take analgesic and physiotherapy.
Diet rich in calcium and protein will help.
You can consult doctor if no relief in couple of days.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
