What Causes Hives From Scalp To Toe?

I have broken out in hives from my scalp to my legs after drinking 1 beer on 3 separate occasions. First time, I had eaten peanuts, too, so I suspected the peanuts. The second time, I just drank a beer. The third time, I tried a different brand of beer. Then, yesterday, after eating pasta, the hives returned with a swollen lip as well. I am 38, and go into anaphylactic shock from penicillin. So, I m wondering if I need to see my family doctor, or an allergist for testing.

Hi.
As per your case history of urticaria, my treatment advice is -
1. Avoid fast food and food with artificial colors.
2. Don't take any medication without consulting a doctor as it may worsen the condition.
3. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion when hives appear.
4. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 2 months.
5. Other treatment options are oral steroid, hydroxyzine, colchicine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
