Hi,
Since you are a known case of
bronchitis and asthma, although under control the problem of hoarse voice for 2 weeks can be due to thickening of the vocal cords. The reasons can be misuse of voice, loud speaking, inflammation due to allergy or infection. This can be diagnosed best with
laryngoscopy done by an ENT Surgeon.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- First of all, it is imperative to have ''voice rest'' meaning no speaking at all.
- Continue the medications for asthma and bronchitis for keeping these under control.
- Plain water steam inhalation.
- Oral anti-inflammatory like
Serratiopeptidase which do not worsen asthma or bronchitis.
- Oral steroids may be needed. Review with ENT Surgeon and repeat
endoscopy to watch for the progress of
laryngitis.
- Removal of polyp or cancer of vocal cord if found to be.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
