What Causes Hoarse Voice, Blocked Airway After Drinking And Smoking?
Hello. I went out last saturday night. Ended up smoking and drinking. Next day i could barely speak. I can whisper but my voice is too hoarse. I had mucus blocking my airways which has got better. My voice is still not getting better. Should I be concerned? I m 20 years old. Have asthma. Have reduced smoking by quite a lot. I haven t smoked since saturday night. And don t plan to until this gets better. I read online that it might be acute laryngitis. Any suggestions? - Been inhaling steam - Taking cough syrup - On a short course of steroids (Betnesol) for my asthma
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Yes. you are right. it is due to acute laryngitis due to binge smoking, where lungs are infected with profuse mucus production.
You require an antibiotic course, visit a local doctor for the same. In case of persistent hoarse voice, laryngoscopy needed from Ent surgeon , to rule out other causes.
all the best, take care.
