What Causes Hoarseness Of Voice In A CHF Patient?

Hello. My mother has chf, copd, aorta aneurysm , and last a fib was in May 14 which renal failure began and the numbers rose to 5.8 then returned to normal with treatment of fluids. No dialysis. She became hoarse afterwards. I understand how her heart disease and meds (One is advair) can cause the hoarseness. Mom s hoarseness has worsened in the past few days. (She has seen the doctor recently and I am a part of every visit and consultation as she lives with me and my family. She has decided no further treatment other than for comfort.). I am curious and do not wish to ask the doctor in front of her, could the changed in the hoarseness ( voice is notably weaker and more raspy), be due to her disease advancing? Does heart disease work that way? Thank you for your time. P.S. She is not on oxygen.

hello,thanks for your query, chf , copd patients will have chronic cough and sputum production, clearing several times can strain d voice box(congestion of vocal cards) leading to laryngitis which can cause hoarseness of voice. absolute voice rest, steam inhalation, mucolytics, steroids will help in suppression of cough and hoarseness of voice.kindly have a visit with an ent sugeon to know d status of voice box. hope i have answered your query. all d best. take care.
