What Causes Horrible Burning Itching Sensation Throughout The Body, Neck And Face?

Every night I wake up with a horrible burning itching sensation throughout my body, neck and face. It is only slightly noticeable externally but I feel this sensation as if it were under my skin. If I get out of bed and drink water and walk around and use a topical triamcinolon, the feeling does begin to abate and I can usually get back to sleep. I take lovaza, niaspan, a half tablet of alprazolam and a pain reliever, with sleep aid before I go to bed. What is going wrong with me?

Hello,

Burning or itching sensation in the whole of the body is indicative of developing neurological problems. Other medical conditions that may cause similar symptoms are infections, autoimmune disorders. Side effects of certain medicines may also cause allergy or rashes with itching. Consult your treating doctor for Lovaza and niaspan.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a neurologist. Get nerve conduction tests and nerve biopsy done. Get imaging tests done and get treated at the earliest. In the meantime, you can take vitamin B6, B12 rich food or supplements. Your treating doctor may tell you to get STD tests done if sexually active to rule out STI (herpes, contact dermatitis, etc). Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and your clinical condition.
