For several years now I have been bringing up white phlegm. My voice is constantly hoarse and on occasions I have trouble making myself heard. I have been prescribed Omeprazole for 5 years now to alleviate the stomach pain etc. but feel other symptoms now I.e. Nausea, tiredness, aching limbs, depression ..... I am 82 (but still active!) . Have been told to continue with the medication but can you suggest a preparation to clear the throat.,thank you J.A.
Hi... Welcome to Healthcaremgic... There are many cases for hoarse voice...at this age any doctor first diagnosis is throat cancer...if you are known smoker then even my first diagnosis is also cancer...but looking at the symptoms like constant PM QQQ clearing...low voice..gastric symptoms...it can be laryngopharyngeal reflux disease...where the throat constantly irritated by gastric reflux..in that case you can take antacids like rabeprazole 20 mg in empty stomach for 14 days and review after that..I would suggest you to consult an ENT surgeon get an endoscopy done to clear all doubt's...if any doubt's write to HCM...
